A bill allowing for the charitable donation of counterfeit goods confiscated by local authorities recently passed by unanimous vote in the California State Assembly's Public Safety Committee. Authored by Senator Gilberto Cedillo (D-Los Angeles), SB 324 proposes that the fake goods, which would’ve previously been destroyed or sent to a landfill, can now be donated to organizations that aid the homeless and underserved. The donation would occur at the discretion of the trademark holders.
